Christ and Castillo de Monteagudo, Spain
At first sight, one might think this image may have been taken somewhere other than the European continent. South America, Brazil, Rio de Janeiro might come to mind.

Actually , this statue of Jesus of Nazareth is very far from Brazil. It is a smaller replica of the well-known Christ located on the top of the Concorvado Mountain in Rio de Janeiro, and that is considered as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. However, in this case, The Christ of Monteagudo is located at only 4 kilometers (2’5 miles) from the city of Murcia, in the south-east of Spain.

The majestic 14 meters (46 ft) sculture was inaugurated in 1921 and destroyed fifteen years later during the Spanish Civil War.
