Description
Prentice-Stone Pavilion– #Sunday_feature 2 of 5 – Bertrand Goldberg. A Chicago native Bertrand Goldberg was born in Hyde Park in 1913. At the age of eighteen he when to Germany to study at the Bauhaus in Dessau, Germany. Here he of course met Mies van der Rohe, but by 1933 the campus had closed due to increasing social unrest. He traveled to with Mies to Berlin and worked with Mies for 3 months. Unfortunately he was forced to return to the states early, but once back in Chicago he threw himself in to his work. He designed my public building around the country. His most famous building in Chicago is Marina City Towers. He also designed River City, the now House of Blues and Raymond Hilliard Homes (near China Town).
