The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. The wooden frame includes a hanging wire for easy mounting on your wall (see photo on the left).

The pic is just as it should be. We are using outside on a covered patio, so we will see how it holds up, but so far we love it and it's gotten good compliments. Thinking of getting another similar item. Shipping was very pricey, tho....
