This is my lamp that my grandma has given to me. I love this lamp because it was hers and it is unique and beautiful. It didn't come with the flowers and the tassels. My grandma told me that she was watching a craft show on TV one day, and she got excited and turned the lampshade into her own creation. She never actually finished putting on the lace at the top and the tassel on the bottom. She pinned those on a few weeks after putting on the flowers because someone told her it looked like a hat! I can remember everyone who sat on the couch next to the lamp running their finger all the way around the tassel. This is just something most people to when they see this lamp. It's fun and some people can't resist the childish temptation! I remember my mom telling me not to do that because I would prick my finger on the pins. I know someone had to change the light bulb every so often and they probably did get pricked! This lamp was always full of memories. The table opens to the barrel part and it was always full of pictures from long ago. Now it is in my front room and contains toys that I let my cat play with. I have taken out the pins and glued on the lace and tassel. I also re wired it and secured its three legs. This picture carries a lot of sentimental value for me. I chose to take a black and white picture to capture part of the feeling this lamp gives me. It is old and still as lovely as ever in my eyes. Even though some people have told me they don't like the look of the lamp, I love it and that's what matters.
