It was Friday #evening. I was walking down 3rd street in San Jose when I noticed a chess board standing on top of a switch box that controls the entrance/exit gate to a #parking lot.
As I turned my gaze toward the parking #lot attendant, without saying anything, he motioned to the #ChessBoard with a smirk. It was a #challenge!
It didn't take me long to realize that I was #playing with a chess MASTER. As we played, the lot attendant told me about his kids' accomplishments, #life in the Philippines and what it was like serving in #US military.
In time, more and more #people stopped by for a chess #match but no one seemed to be able to beat Steven at #chess.
Since that night, I've been coming by here every #Friday trying to win at least one game.
