I'm on vacation in St. Louis this week and yesterday I visited this modernist gem, The Abbey Church of St. Mary and St. Louis. The facade consists of three tiers of thin-poured concrete parabolic arches, with the top tier forming a large bell tower.
The church was designed by Gyo Obata and constructed in 1962.
Obata, along with George Hellmuth went on to found HOK, the largest architectural firm in the world with 1,800 employees.
