Here is the other shot I promised yesterday. This place was used as a set for the 007-Casino Royale at the very end when James Bond is recovering from the torture he suffered. Imagine living in a place like this. On the shores of the Como Lake, on a beautiful house with this view!
This Villa was built by a very wealthy and powerful Italian family and the brother that went into church to have power as a priest, when it controlled the kings, built this place to retire. The Villa has a large church. If you look at the first shot you will see it on the left. But it was never a church, it was actually the living room.
The Villa was then sold to a family that owned one of the largest supermarket chains in italy. The owner was an explorer and organized the first Italian expedition to the Everest and many others. When he died he left the house to the control of the State to make it into a museum and leave it as it was.
