The ability to capture a single image in a minute fraction of time provides an opportunity to
suspend that moment and share it with others.
It has taken me years to fully develop that simple philosophy, but the passage of time most often
grants us wisdom. As a child I loved cameras, and at the age of nine I received my very first
Polaroid camera. The joy of taking a picture and then peeling back the film of paper protecting
the image during its development always amazed and excited me. However, times changed
and my Polaroid camera was set aside for the convenience of my little Kodak 110 camera. Its
small size made it easy to always keep in a purse or pocket. In later years, I matured and
moved up to a 35mm camera, but instead of just taking my own pictures, I began developing
mine and others in our family's photo lab, and although I did not take as many pictures with my
35mm, I was still passionate about photography.
These days, I use Canon DSLRs that enable me to combine my love of technology with my love
of photography. Originally from Central Texas, I graduated from Tarleton State University with a
degree in Speech Communications and an emphasis on journalism and organizational
communications. My education and training from Tarleton taught me about photojournalism,
radio and television production, and advertising. It is because of my educational background
that my photography takes on an editorial and photojournalism style. Therefore, I prefer to
photograph more on location than in a studio.
