Description
When I first got interested in photography, I started seeking local places of interest to capture. When I discovered that Atlanta not only had its own version of New York City's Flatiron but that it was a little bit older, I had to visit it.
And even though I no longer lived near downtown, I still visited it on several occasions including my last walk down historic Peachtree Street the week I moved away. This was my farewell to Atlanta and the places I'd gotten to know during my tenure there.
It's a shame in a way that the old English-American Building on a little wedge of land along Peachtree Street is not more widely known. In a city where the skyline seems to change daily there's a little comfort in knowing that the city's second skyscraper, built in the last decade of the 19th century, still stands. And as Atlanta's first skyscraper is gone, that makes Atlanta's little Flatiron a real survivor.
