Description
Large, often colorful, jellyfish are common in coastal zones worldwide. Jellyfish have roamed the seas for at least 500 million years, and possibly 700 million years or more, making them the oldest multi-organ animal.
Jellyfish, or jellies, are categorized as the carnivorous Medusa, as they are free-swimming aquatic animals with a gelatinous umbrella-shaped bell and trailing tentacles. Jellyfish pulsate to acquire locomotion, while the stinging tentacles can be utilized to capture prey by emitting toxins.

Excellent image. Did you take this in an aquarium?
Susan Rissi Tregoning replied:
Thank you! Yes, I did. While I have had several opportunities to photograph jellyfish in nature, I'm normally far too nervous to successfully get the shot.
