Adam Berkowitz has built a reputation as an energetic teacher and performer. Based in West Hartford CT, he is adjunct faculty at the Hartt School Community Division where he has a studio of private students. In 2007, Adam completed a DMA in Clarinet at Rutgers University where he studied with Maureen Hurd. Adam is the author of Advanced Contemporary Techniques for the Clarinet, a method book that guides students through the use of extended techniques in daily practice. This book was the subject of his 2011 presentation at ClarinetFest in Los Angeles. As half of Lituus Duo, Adam performs regularly with saxophonist/composer T. L. Hine. Adam is also interested in electronic music, and has: composed pieces for clarinet and Ableton Live9, remixed Michael Lowenstern’s Aftermarket, and developed performance software in Max6. Adam also loves to spend time with his wife Ilana and sons, Noam and Yaron.
