Original handmade drawing by Lucia Waterson of six types of blue jellyfish found in the Mediterranean Sea. The white one in the middle is called Sea lung or Marine lung. Nearby, the one with a kind of stylized flower is called Moon jellyfish. At the bottom right, you can see the Cigar jellyfish, it's the one with a bit of red lines. And next to it, there is the Blue button. The last two at the top are the Nomadic jellyfish, on the left, and the Comb jellyfish, on the right.
Jellyfish is the informal name for medusa. They are free-swimming marine animals, with umbrella shaped bells that can pulsate so to provide propulsion to move through the waters.
Their trailing tentacles have stinging cells, that's why they can be dangerous to swim with.
No harm, though, to just look at them. And since they are beautiful it will be enjoyable and relaxing to have this painting.
