First of a series based on typography from India/SouthAsia. This is based on one of my favorite Bengali words, pronounced "king-kor-tobbo-bee-moor-ho". It refers to a state of befuddlement where you don't know what to do, hence the question mark. Bengali is one of those Sanskrit-based languages where many words can be joined to express a more complex thought. Similar to German. (Sanskrit & German have shared linguistic roots)
I look for the extraordinary hiding in the ordinary — emergent patterns that are discovered in the moment, not staged or manipulated. Unless specifically mentioned, my body of work consists of candid street photography of people & architecture in available light, no posing or models. A niche area of interest is the (accidental) interaction of words and subject matter in a scene that may add an unexpected layer of tragedy or comedy.
