This is one of my favorite magic gardens to get lost in on the weekend on the Lower East Side. Lower Manhattan is home to over 70 community gardens and many of them are located on the Lower East Side and in the East Village. A few decades ago during a terrible economic crisis in New York City, these spaces were abandoned lots. They were transformed into community gardens over the last 20 years and are now beautiful green spaces that are maintained by the communities that live in the vicinity.

Photography found me a few years ago and I found, in turn, that photography and writing are two of my biggest passions in this world. There is a tremendous amount of beauty and diversity to be found in the landscapes, cityscapes and the spirits of the inhabitants of New York City and nothing makes me happier than the process of sharing that beauty and diversity with the rest of the world. All of the photos on this profile are my New York City Instagram photography taken with my iPhone and processed with a variety of mobile photography apps like Snapseed, Camera +, VSCO Cam, Photoforge and Noir.
