Amanda Kleinman was born and raised in Montgomery County, MD. She moved to Washington, DC in the early 1990’s while attending college and became a prolific member of the art and music community. She toured with her original rock band, The Apes, from 1999 to 2008 and showed drawings, sculpture, and books in a wide range of informal and formal gallery settings.
