Description
Being in Watkins Glen is a wonderful experience. The world seems shut out and far away. One is contained within the walls of this place and it is peaceful. I started at the top and wound my way down through the layers of time. When I reached this section, it seemed water was falling everywhere. It was as if we were caught in a rainstorm.
Watkins Glen State Park is the most famous of the Finger Lakes State Parks. Within two miles, the glen's stream descends 400 feet past 200 feet cliffs generating 19 waterfalls along its'course. The gorge path winds over and under waterfalls and through the spray of Cavern Cascade. Rim trails overlook the gorge. Over thousands of years, glaciers and streams carved out this landscape.
