Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….

This year has already become one of the most memorable in my life. I've recently begun to realize that I do not have to conform with the natural preconceptions of society, placed by the media, the outside world, or the people close to me. Feeling "normal" is subjective and something that I no longer have a desire to achieve. Having my own opinions, especially ones that differ from the ones I have grown up with, have definitely impacted how I see the world. As my own, instead of a pre-made collection of ideas and precepts that I have no intention of following but am forced to anyway. I am further educating myself on topics that are important to me, such as intersectional feminism, education itself, and "teenage feelings" or the awkward stage between child and adult, in all meanings of the phrase. I hope that I can apply this information to make change. Here's to 2016.
