Description
The main stairs of the Bella Maggiore Inn in Ventura, California. While there has been at least one paranormal claim about someone seeing a female ghost on the stairs, I have my doubts about the story's authenticity. You see, the stairs, though elegant, is not original to the 1920s hotel. It was added around 1984. The original stairs, by comparison, were not that fancy. They were narrow and used to go straight up from the ground floor. Here's another fun fact most people don't know: when the hotel building originally opened as the El Nido in 1927 (later becoming the Taft Hotel in the 1940s), the ground floor was not the lobby. The ground floor was retail space that was later converted into the Bella Maggiore's lobby in the 1980s. So where was the original El Nido/Taft Hotel lobby? My best guess is that it was where I stood when I took this photo. Model: Carmen Conte. MUA: Melinda Mauskemo.
