Thank viewing my work. I really enjoyed seeing your work. It look like you have been at it for some time. I was wondering do you know any of the people in your paintings?
Nicole Jean-Louis replied:
Wow! Product of my memory, Art Johnson! I was an adolescent when my dad took us, siblings, skating on Sunday afternoon. I remember seeing young happy couples. I love your pleasing comment. Thank you so much Art!

Greetings to a beautiful young lady. If there is one thing that comes through loud and clear from your lovely paintings it is the sense of peace, tranquility, and harmony in a tropical paradise; or maybe the peace comes from your gentle soul. You'e quite an artist, my lady. Keep up the great work.
Nicole Jean-Louis replied:
Bijan,it was a tropical paradise. I will employ the past tense, and you'll understand the reason why... In the year 1950, there was a world's fair held in Haiti for Haitian artists. At that time the Haitian president was Dumarsais Estime'. That world's fair was approved by the American president, Harry S. Truman. President Estime' wanted to demonstrate Haitian culture to other countries and encourage tourism in Haiti; Many international countries were invited.... The fair was landscaped with garden and coconut palm trees surrounding the bay of Port-au-Prince, among some constructions, there was a luminous fountain, where the play of lights and water will change color with the intensity of the music. Years after that fair, the luminous fountain was still functioning. On Sunday afternoon, my father will take us, children, roller-skating about the once world's fair park that we called ' le Bicentenaire'. There were just locals; children wearing their roller skating shoes, romantic couple walking, relaxing.... In 1980, I came back to the country; I revisited 'le Bicentenaire' only to find other constructions erected. There was no luminous fountain. An eye-soar scenery had replaced the garden and the palm trees by the bay: there were all kind of refuses; some huts were constructed right over them; to complete the picture, there were pigs roaming about and the smell was overcoming... This painting reflects a happy memory of my childhood in Haiti, a recollection of a joyful time vanished forever. Thanks Bijan for your wonderful comment, sorry for my lengthy response.

I love your style. Kind of reminds me of the kids book "Miss Rumphius" when she goes to the tropical island.
