An architectural style sketch of St Margaret’s Lane in King’s Lynn. Originally known as the ‘Steelyard’ (a type of business house from the medieval German Stalhof) Hanse House is on the left. A Hanseatic Warehouse it is the only surviving Hansa building in England. It was constructed between 1475 and 1480 following the Treaty of Utrecht, and allowed Hansa to establish a trading depot in Lynn for the first time.
