Sally: I believe you are mistaken about the name of the photographer who took this famous photograph in NYC. It was actually Alfred Eisenstaedt, a staff photographer with LIFE magazine. You'll see his photo if you search his name on Google.

Hi Carl, Both men photographed the event. It's true that Eisenstaedt's photo appeared in LIFE magazine, but J. Seward Johnson said that he based the statue on Jorgensen's photo. If you search Jorgensen's name, you'll see his version. Thanks, Sally
