It's been a while since I got my bug on... so I figured I'd better come atcha with some BIG!

This is a #Weta. Specifically a Cave Weta, and this lad from head to toe was well over 40cms long!
It was my number one dream whilst in New Zealand to see one of their famous 'Giant Bugs' in the wild, and having learned that our incredible #Kiwi friend and host took it upon herself to help us find one. Cue countless hours searching countless #abandoned mine shafts and caves, driving deep into forests until the 'end of the road', crossing ice cold streams and #hiking into abject wilderness until we come across a 4ft high 100yr old tunnel.
We crouch and stumble in, heads nearly touching the pitch black ceiling. We light up the torch and the place is literally crawling with these jumbo Jurassic jumpers! We couldn't believe it! Bigger than we ever imagined, infinite males and females and babies, and that dull skittering sound you'd hear in old b-movies. I was over the moon - like a go...
