This painting makes me happy!! The colors are really fun and, like his other pieces I own, expertly painted. I want to live in this cottage and walk into the ocean. Ordered it on canvas - well executed. Thank you for the smiles!

Artist's Description

I wonder if the sky looked anything like this on May 20, 1957, when the Ruskin Heights Tornado ripped through the Kansas City suburb. The water tower pictured stands 143 feet and had been built 4 years earlier, in 1953. One if the stories to come from this event was of a family and their neighbors piling into a 1956 Chevy. They tried to outrun the killer even though they had a basement. Donna Bramble was 14 years old that day, and was in that car. She remembers it clearly; "The tornado skidded us sideways and blew out all the windows, then picked us up." The car was picked up and hurdled into this water tower...leaving an unrecognized mess of twisted steel. Amazingly, a few of them survived.
