Description
In the fall of 2013, Colorado had one of the heaviest rainfalls on record, flooding much of the area. Many of the roads heading up to the high country were damaged due to the runoff. The lake shown was my weekend getaway from the city. Normally, at this time of the season, the lake is significantly drained for purposes of irrigation. The forefront of the photo should be dry. When I finally gained access to that lake road, I was expecting some 'fill', but the rains had almost completely filled the lake prior to the winter freeze. Thankfully, the sunset skies allowed an awesome picture to be taken where the snow on the shore will rarely be seen in years to come. Notice the two peaks of the skyline peeking through the clouds?
